Lab Report Summary Quesons:
1.
In exercise 1, when does duplicaon of DNA take place?
The interphase stage is where DNA replicaon takes place. However there are 3 phases
within this stage G-phase, s-phase and G1-phase. The G-phase is where the duplicaon
of the DNA actually takes place, so nearly immediately.
2.
In exercise 1, when do the duplicated chromosomes arrive in the daughter nuclei?
This also takes place in the interphase stage. However this happens in the G1-phase of
interphase. This phase will duplicate all the chromosomes geng ready for the daughter
cell to slowly separate away from each other.
3.
In exercise 2, how does onion root p mitosis differ from mitosis in the whitefish
blastula?
The p in the whitefish and the onion are different because the onion seems freer
flowing compared to the whitefish, which seems more organized and even compared to
the onion.
4.
If a cell contains 46 chromosomes, and divides by mitosis, how many chomosomes will
be found in each of the daughter cells?
46 Chromosomes
5.
If a cell contains 46 chromosomes, and divides by meiosis, how many chomosomes will
be found in each of the daughter cells?
23 Chromosomes
6.
Why is it important to produce haploid cells in meiosis (think about the consequences if
diploid cells were produced instead of haploid cells)?
This means that there is replicaon of each chromosome, its important for this to
happen in meiosis because this means that the cell will receive all 46 of the
chromosomes. Cells can live without all 46 somemes there are more that may lead to
specific disabilies.
